In February 2011, Lansdowne Technologies was successful in a competitive bid to the Regional Municipality of Durham for a four-year contract to perform the role of Project Leader for the Next Generation Common Communications Platform (NextGen) Project.
This project aims to identify, acquire and deploy a common radio communications platform to support interoperability at municipal, regional, provincial, and federal levels for public safety stakeholders including the Durham Regional Police Service; the eight fire services from Oshawa, Pickering, Ajax, Whitby, Clarington, Brock, Scugog, and Uxbridge; and the security and emergency response services of the Ontario Power Corporation. The system will be scalable to provide future growth capacity for public service providers such as transit, public health, and public works. For this project, Lansdowne is developing a Regional Communications Interoperability Plan and supporting Standard Operating Procedures as well as the project management plans and solicitation documents to acquire the new system and accompanying user gear for the stakeholders by 2014.
